Studies have demonstrated that a minimally-invasive procedure called carboxytherapy is able to stimulate the local production of collagen in the dermis. This procedure is now used to rejuvenate the face, the decollete, eye lids. Co2 injections seems very promising in the treatment of under-eye dark circles. Most procedures in skin rejuvenation require few sessions (4 to 6, with one session each 3-4 weeks).
It is a non-surgical method. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is infiltrated into the subcutaneous tissue through a tiny 30-32G needle. From the injection point, CO2 diffuses easily into adjacent tissues. It introduces additional oxygen into the affected areas, and the result is a skin tightening with an improvement in facial wrinkles. The additional Oxygen has also an effect on the color of the skin, especially dark under-eye brown circles (caused by poor circulation in the skin).
Almost all skin rejuvenation procedures require a low number of sessions. Traditionally, from 4 to 6 sessions monthly spaced are necessary to get improvement. Eye lids or dark circles may require from 2 to 4 sessions each 2 or 3 weeks. The procedure are usually painless and require no topic anesthesia. They are fast (5 to 15 minutes for the face / 15 min for the decolleté).
